Samarkand Regional Faculty of Vocational Education and Training opened with the support of UNESCO and the European Union

On December 3, 2025, the official opening ceremony of the Samarkand Regional Territorial Retraining and Advanced Training Faculty under the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education, modernized with the support of UNESCO and the European Union, took place in Samarkand.

Representatives of the European Union, UNESCO, the Vocational Education Agency, the Department of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the Samarkand Regional Khokimiyat who participated in the event got acquainted with the buildings, teacher training rooms, and modern equipment renovated within the framework of the project.

This faculty specializes in improving the skills of production education masters and special subject teachers of vocational education organizations operating in the service sector in Samarkand and neighboring regions in the engineering direction.

Advanced training courses are organized based on curricula and programs designed for 144 hours. The educational process includes state policy in the field of vocational education, the use of information and communication technologies and media literacy, the development of modern professional skills, and mechanisms for assessing the knowledge of students. To date, the faculty has improved the qualifications of masters of industrial education in the engineering field.

In 2025, the 150-seat training workshop, which was provided to the faculty by the Samarkand Technical School of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, was overhauled and fully equipped as a “Training Practice Base” through the support of the UNESCO project and the European Union.

The updated “Training Practice Base” will allow, in addition to engineering disciplines, to organize advanced training courses in the service sector in such areas as tourism, hotel service, restaurant service, cooking and hairdressing. In addition, every year, more than 650 students of the Samarkand Tourism and Cultural Heritage Technical School are provided with ample opportunities to effectively complete their internships.
